As Christmas spending kicks into high gear, now feels like a good time to think about ways to give back.
This week we welcome into the studio performers from Wild Bill's Honky Tonk Holidaze, an original musical written by Bill Ogden that's turned into an annual tradition. Bill Ogden, Amanda Ogden, Marshall Hood, and Pete Grey dropped by to tell us a little bit about this year's production, which benefits HOME (Housing Opportunities for Musicians and Entertainers), and to perform two songs from the show. You can catch the whole thing, along with a gift market stocked with non-traditional wares from local artists, Dec. 8-9 at “Santa’s Stash Pot” (777 Shady Ln.) and Dec. 15-16 at Sam’s Town Point (2115 Allred Dr.).
In the second half of the episode, Arts Editor Robert Faires drops by to discuss Co-Lab Project's nifty group show all about food, "Texas Toast," and Web Editor James Renovitch previews the Chronicle's annual Wish List, a guide to local charitable giving. Of course, cash donations and volunteer time are always welcome, but if you want to give a more personal gift, the Wish List lets you know the specific needs of Austin's many worthy nonprofits.
Host: Kim Jones. Guest: Bill Ogden, Amanda Ogden, Pete Grey, Marshall Hood, Robert Faires, and James Renovitch. Engineer: Bob Dailey. Theme music: Kevin Curtin and Jonas Wilson.
