If you're looking to get an early jump on International Women's Day, we have just the event for you: The University of Texas' Butler School of Music is bringing together some of its most illustrious faculty members and singers from its student choirs for a celebratory concert at 5:30pm today, March 7, at Bates Recital Hall on the UT campus.

The hourlong event will feature music and words by notable women, as well as performances by the school's leading lights. Butler School Director Mary Ellen Poole will read the speech that Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai made to the United Nations in 2013. Music and Human Learning professor Judith Jellison will read My Own Words by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Piano professor Martha Hilley will read Maya Angelou's Phenomenal Women. Refreshments will be provided by Sigma Alpha Iota in the Bates lobby starting at 5pm. A reception sponsored by Mu Phi Epsilon will follow the performance in MRH 2.614 at 6:30pm.

All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Safe Alliance and Posada Esperanza at Casa Marianella, Austin.

• Gwyneth Walker's A Song of the Future, performed by women of the UT Chamber Singers and Concert Chorale, conducted by Dr. Suzanne Pence, with prof. Margie Yankeelov on oboe and Xin Chang on piano
• Malala Yousafzai's 2013 United Nations speech, delivered by Butler School Director Mary Ellen Poole
• Libby Larsen's Theme and Deviations performed by prof. Delaine Leonard, harp
• Ruth Bader Ginsburg's "My Own Words," read by Dr. Judith Jellison
• Ann Gebuhr's Crystalliferous performed by professors Kristin Wolfe Jensen, bassoon, and Patti Wolf, piano
• Hannah Arendt's "The Promise of Politics," read by Dr. Sonia Seeman
• Amy Beach's Invocation, performed by prof. Sandy Yamamoto, violin, and Dr. Colette Valentine, piano
• Chants of medieval nuns, performed by Dr. Luisa Nardini, Jordyn Middleton, Amelia McElveen, Julia Stoker, Cary Peñate, and Emily Gittins
• Words of Helen Keller, read by Dr. Amy Simmons
• Kathryn Mishell's The Scent of Light and Lost Dance performed by prof. Sophia Gilmson, piano
• Maya Angelou's Phenomenal Women, read by prof. Martha Hilley
• Cécile Chaminade's Concertino in D Major, Op. 107 performed by prof. Marianne Gedigian, flute, and Dr. Colette Valentine, piano.
