Summer Fun: Summer's Coming

Let our past years' special issues get you in the mood for Summer Fun

Summer may not officially begin until June 21, but here at The Austin Chronicle, we kick it off in the middle of May.

Each year around this time, we present our Summer Fun issue. This year's hits the stand this Thursday. But you don't have to wait until then: Our last few years of guides are instantly accessible and cram-packed with fun, fun, fun.

We keep our Summer Fun archives updated so that you can count on the info in our back issues to find tons of great ideas to keep you happily distracted all year around.

Last year, we rode the wild swell and checked in with Austin photographer Kenny Braun, who'd just released his most excellent Texas Surf tome via UT Press. We also hit the waves with cover subject, national wakesurf champ, Raleigh Hager, and sneaked a peek into the wild mind of water-park jefe, Schlitterbahn's Jeff Henry.

There's plenty of great fun to be had in previous year's issues, too, like 2013's 50 Ways to Greet Your Summer and 2012's Elements of Summer Fun.

Keep checking online this week as we lead up to Summer Fun 2015 and even after the issue comes out, as we launch many online extras to instigate more adventures. Keep us in mind as you gear into summer.
