In one way or another, Brand New Key – Austin's queer-indie-Americana band – has been strumming the bluegrass around town for the better part of four years. But this Friday night they're celebrating a new milestone: the release of their first full-length album, End of the Story. "I want to say, EOTS is a deeply personal collection of songs that exploded out of us in a rainbow fount of spiritual bliss," says Amy Moreland, the band's mandolin player and co-founder. "The unsexy reality is that we finally wrote ourselves a goodly album-worth of original songs and saved up enough band tips over a year to do it." Many of those tips were hard-earned on the In.gredients porch, which is where Friday's show will also take place. As for the queerness in their indie music, Jill Csekitz (the band's percussionist) explains it best. "We were just born that way. Our sound pretty well matches who we are."
