Saturday marks Austin's seventh annual Queerbomb, a free, all ages, all inclusive queer celebration

Saturday marks Austin's seventh annual Queerbomb, a free, all-ages, all-inclusive queer celebration. For a short moment, though, it looked like our counter-Pride had thrown its last glitter bomb. There have been demands for people to step down, for Queerbomb to be more political; there's been rumors and accusations thrown, and feelings hurt and scarred on all sides. But this weekend the show goes on, and with it – I hope – a refreshed feeling of community. It can be cramped and complicated under this ol' umbrella, but together we're a magical tribe. There's a lot of power in uniting to let our freak flags fly. "For all the people that can't find their kind of weirdo, they can come to Queerbomb," says co-founder Tamicka Phillips, "and find at least one person that's part of their tribe."
