Gay Place

May 27, 2016, Columns

Peruse the listings this week (and last) and you can't help but notice that adult proms are all the rage for promoters and fundraisers alike (see Cheer Ups Friday, and Out Youth Saturday). Sure, at Gay Place we love any excuse to show off just how nicely we qlean up, but these parties aren't just about getting fancy. True, some of us already waved our rainbow flags on the dance floor, and some of us who were flag-less didn't mind. But not everyone lived the high school prom of their dreams, and there's something comforting about second chances for all of us. Maybe it's because "it gets better," or maybe we just find better dance partners. Either way, this weekend you can dance the night away.
