BEST LGBTQIA COMMUNITY Maybe on the planet. That's how we're feeling right now – in the pink with pride at the number of those initials represented in the Chronicle's annual "Best of Austin" (umm, this issue for you snoozers). While we don't wish to tick through the ones we believe qualify (we'd be basically copying most of the winners), know that we are well-represented in this town. Granted, our myopia gives us no right to compare ourselves to any city we've not visited, but what makes Austin so LGBTQIAwesome (...) is that we are marbled throughout this city – even in the meatiest flanks, we are ribboned throughout. This point is made everyday. We were listening to a certain FM morning team jock (OK, it was Deb from 101X's Jason & Deb) go on about how much she loved a cool local club. The morning crew got some rightful mileage out of the fact that Deb could not tell whether or not East Sixth Street icon Cheer Up Charlie's was a gay bar. And most importantly, that it didn't matter. Because it doesn't. More on this later (perhaps after a visit with said morning crew, hmmm ...). As far as this week is concerned, please come out and support AIDS Walk 2011. DJs Fine & Dandy (that would be Yours Truly and Andy) will be spinning some vinyl luv before, during, and after the walk. See you Sunday!
