We're here, queers!

Feelin' Good
Yes, darlin' dandies, it's a new dawn; it's a new day. Dandy Unicorn is back in print and prancin' pretty, and Gay Place is all in one place, all in one piece. Our world is one. We hope to better serve you with this new format, dear queers and queer acolytes. So, let's neither belabor nor overexplain these changes, except to say each week should look approximately close to this: a weigh-in at the beginning, then a column's worth of the week's best bets, then a quick glance at some upcoming and ongoing happenings.
What a sweet week to launch a new GP with Splash Days and the Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival both on this week's gaydar. Each event has earned laurels as hot, wet traditions here in River City. Splash is internationally recognized as a destination circuit throwdown for party monsters who follow such trails (think: Miami's White Party, Dallas' Purple Party, NOLA's Southern Decadence). What distinguishes ours from other throbbing sausagefests is: a) ATX and b) the literally splashy Sunday cool-down at Hippie Hollow. And our own aGLIFF is 24 years deep into the best of LGBTQueer programming around. Check both websites for details and any last-minute changes.
The listings we present here each week are a mere sample. Where are we hiding the rest? Why online, of course. Don't forget, we have an entire matrix of Gay Placery on our Web page, austinchronicle.com/gay. While we spread out into our new, spacious digs, please also note that we take your submissions. Info about all these great hoop-dee-doos doesn't just pop into our cerebrum like so many pixies on poppers. Nope, you tell us, or we have to dig. So send us your listings, dig? Next week: Austin Pride 2011. Dat's right.
The Gay Place loves you; keep those cards and letters comin’.
