Set your harmonics for another month's queer convergence, as Gaytober begins

MIGHTY REAL GOOD TIMES As we head into October, we careen into some serious queer convergence. Make your plans now for next week's National Coming Out Day (Oct. 11), either locally at Habitat for Humanity's collaborative Pride Build 2009 project with Empowering Spirits Foundation or by hitching a ride with some fellow townies up to D.C. for the National Equality March, bringing together all manner of queer and supporters to fight for one cause: "Full equality in all matters governed by civil law." Yeah, baby. Actually, the real coming out happens in the heart, and we truly hope that every person who struggles with this decision soon comes to a place of peace and gets the hell out of that uptight, deceptive, cramped, stinky closet. Really, it does not become you. I don't care how many lamé gowns, men's suits, wigs, phony mustaches, or thigh-high leather boots you have stashed away in there. You do not belong on a shelf, on a hanger, or shoved into some dark hole (...). Come out. And while you are at it, get a mighty fine dose of some capital "Q" Queer culture at the visitation from ex-Tribe 8 transmen Lynnee Breedlove and Silas Howard at the Camp Camp presentation of their national spoken hotness tour: Mighty Real. We will be there with hell's bells on. Thank you sir, may I have another? (See Wednesday.)
