Big love and gratitude to Charlotte Hale for her two decades of service as ED of PT
By Kate X Messer, Fri., July 17, 2009
A RED HOT THANK YOU! Oh, Charlotte Hale! Twenty years at the helm of one of Austin's finest public service love and care providers! Twenty years as captain of the good ship Project Transitions and as a major player in the HIV/AIDS Planning Council! Twenty years of service to Austin and Central Texas as an executive director – a rare feat in a town/community that seems to flush through EDs like so much bilge. Well, after two decades, the steadfast Ms. Charlotte is stepping down, and a new ED will take the reins. While Charlotte will stay in an active role for the annual Hill Country Ride for AIDS, her ongoing presence will be missed.
The best way you, dear reader, can send off this Austin supermama is to attend this weekend's big fundraiser for her beloved PT: Red Hot XVIII at Oilcan Harry's, Friday, 5-10pm. Every year, OCH raises beaucoup bookoo (like, more than 20 grand – 100% of the proceeds) at the event with the Roman numerals after it. It's like a reign ... or a dynasty – all XVIII with its bad self. We are proud to say it wears the badge of a "Best of Austin" winner and is a perennial staff fave. The live and silent auctions are as loaded as the patrons (with the buffet, silly), and there promises to be plenty of oonce-oonce in the house with DJs; the casts of Love, Janis and La Cage; the Austin Babtisters; and Murrah Noble. Whoot.
