The price of tequila is gradually rising because farmers are ripping up agave and replacing it with corn, which is more lucrative.

In 20 years, the U.S. has fallen from 11th to 42nd in longevity. And though we used to be the world's tallest people, we now rank ninth and 15th in male and female height, respectively.

The U.S. spends more on its military than does every other country combined.

According to author John Kehler, in the Soviet Union there was one KGB agent involved in political surveillance of citizens for every 5,830 citizens. In Nazi Germany there was one gestapo officer per 2,000 people. In East Germany, there was one Stasi agent per 166 citizens, and if you added in regular informers, it was one spy for every 66 people.
