Nexia Biotechnologies and the U.S. Army's Soldier Biological Chemical Command have imported genes for making spider silk from spiders into goats, which secrete a substance in their milk that can be extracted into silky fibers. This new material, called BioSteel, can be used to make things such as bulletproof vests and suspension bridges.

One-fifth of all the electricity produced in the world is used for lighting.

The Texas panhandle town of O'Donnell is home to the Dan Blocker Museum. Blocker, of Bonanza fame, started and owned the Bonanza steak house restaurant chain.
