Although Project Transitions provides housing in Austin at two apartment complexes that they own, the need for different varieties of housing remained. Project Transitions responded by creating a transitional-housing program that places residents in their own apartments or homes at various locations throughout the city and area. A professional staff works with landlords to provide individual housing for residents, while assisting them in applying for permanent low-income housing. The agency subsidizes the rent and provides intensive support services before and after permanent housing is found.
To be eligible, applicants must have a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, be able to qualify for low-income housing (have low or no income), and have good utility credit. For more information or to apply, contact Pamela Villars, director of client services, at 512/454-8646.
