After a Fashion
Vylette gets the Sex and the City nod from USA Today and we turn four! Happy Birthday to us!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! This column begins the fourth year of "After a Fashion" (and the Chronicle's 21st birthday!). Gee, remember when we began this "fashion" thing? The Chronicle was asking for submissions for a romance column ... and to this day there's never been a romance column. But we've had each other: you, me, and this turbulent sea of Austin style. As we enter our fourth year, what can we expect? Who the hell knows? ... More brilliant writing, of course, more celebrities, more parties, more fashion, and more gossip. But as far as predictions, I have none. We'll just see where the road takes us ... just you and me, dressed to kill, and accessorized for any occasion.
SEX IN THIS CITY "The Sex and the City women are back this summer with a whole new wardrobe. Love the look? Contrary to conventional wisdom, you don't have to schlep to fashion-forward New York City to get it. Kim France, editor in chief of Lucky, the 20-month-old shopping magazine, says hip boutiques selling the oh-so-sexy Sex and the City style can be found across the USA," according to Jean Sloan of USA Today. Our good friends at Vylette, in Davenport Village (3801 Capital of TX Hwy. N. Ste. H-100, 347-7878) have reason to be pleased -- Vylette was named by the national daily paper as "One of the Top 10 Places in the United States to Get Sex-Kittenish Clothes," in their Aug. 23 issue. Vylette owners Leigh Royce, Amy Weaver, and Christina Klisanin have had nothing but success with their venture, garnering local as well as national attention; the selection they offer is as appealing as the charm and style with which they offer it. And, of course, we've loved them ever since they opened. Glad the rest of the country has caught on. Good work, girls!
