Bikinis! Half Off!
Seen much of the nudist community lately? Perhaps a recent Texas arrest has cast a chill on the body of the group? Angie Carreras took her shirt off in naked defiance of a law which doesn't even exist. See, Carreras is defending herself against a "disorderly conduct" charge for removing her top at an outdoor concert. Her boyfriend (a male), similarly half-clothed, was not arrested. There is no Texas state law prohibiting anybody, man, woman, or beast, from toplessness. Hoping to cast aside the cloak of random law enforcement, Carreras is headed for the U.S. Supreme Court. The Hill Country Nudists will be at Hippie Hollow, Sat, Jul 12 with free watermelon (What! No canteloupes?!) and info on Carreras' case. This just so happens to coincide with National Nude Recreation Week, July 7-13. What have you got to lose? Your pants? 244-2543.
The Widdlwest Cowboy
Those big, brawny Dallas Cowboys show off their sensitive side while they face off with the Oakland Raiders in a Pre-Season Pro Football Scrimmage, Thu, Jul 31, 7pm, at the Toney Burger Stadium. Sensitive?! Sure! See, a percentage of each ticket sold to you fans of the 100-yard brawl will be donated to Any Baby Can, our local crisis assistance and support program for families of Central Texas children with chronic illness or disabilities. Tickets will go for $9, $13, $17, $21, hut! hut! hut! 454-3743.
Gulb! Glub!
Many area lakes will be closed for the Fourth of July. Events are being cancelled and the LCRA will be assessing bacteria levels in the water and determining openings based on the results. Lake Travis will be closed through Sat, Jul 12, according to the LCRA as of press time. Call the LCRA for regularly updated info. 473-3333, ext. 2, then ext. 1.
I Owe, I Owe, It's Off to Gig I Go...
