Blank Canvas ATX: Weekly Screenings
This is a public viewing and online video series, hosted by Heather Barfield and HD Stone, that promotes, explores, and highlights the vast landscape of Austin’s creative communities. Season One features artists Olaniyi R. Akindiya Akirash, Roni Zulu, Gigi Grinstad, Aimée Everett, Karen Woodward, Celeste Sarabia, The Impossible Mr. Winterbourne, and Reworks.Through Aug. 19. Indra's Awarehouse: OCDNA
That irrepressible Rob Gagnon, stand-up surrealist and wrangler of Fallout Theatre's longrunning Sandbox showcase, visits his experimental visual art upon the walls (and other parts) of this venue – Gagnon having been "pushed into artistic madness by a dead cat, departmental downsizing, and a panic attack" – before he hoists his carcass to Colorado for good and all. This is a solo exhibition of 14 large photographs and photographic collages by artist Elizabeth Chiles, showcasing two series of her work: "Figs from Thistles," created in 2013 during the worst Texas drought in over a century, and "On Water," created in 2018 during months of historic flooding along the Colorado River.Through Aug. 16 -

The People's Gallery: Exhibition 2019
Here's the 15th annual exhibition at Austin City Hall, presenting a wide array of painting, sculpture, drawing, and other media by 113 local artists. Women & Their Work: Hauntings
Each of Shana Hoehn's large sculptures consists of two women, either as a double or camouflaged in one form through double imagery, inspired by the sexualized female archetypes sourced from ship figureheads, hood ornaments, carnival portraiture, pinups painted on WWII aircraft, and horror films.
