Thom Pain (based on nothing)

Will Eno's one-man masterpiece returns to Hyde Park Theatre, where it will again be performed by Ken Webster, and that's definite reason to 1) rejoice and 2) make reservations to see the show while you can. This is the shit, people, the sort of thing that intimate venues were made for. It's not spectacle; it's not some multimedia, high-flying, gimmick-wracked onslaught; it's as casual as conversation and as well-constructed as your brain. You wanna bring your non-thespian friends who "don't really care for theatre" to something that will amaze them and make them want to maybe try more theatre sometime, then you want to bring them to this. You want to see something that will hit you deep and hard even while it's making you laugh? This. You want to see one of Austin's best actors doing one of the best things he's ever done onstage? This. You get what I'm saying here? Excellent. See you there. Through Aug. 3. Thu.-Sat., 8pm. Extra show, because it's selling out night after night: Sat., Aug. 3, 10pm. $18-22.

Hyde Park Theatre, 511 W. 43rd, Austin, 479-7529
