    Shakespeare at Winedale 2021

    Shakespeare at Winedale’s summer class takes the stage this July and August with performances of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, and King Richard III. Note: Established in 1970 as an undergraduate English course, Shakespeare at Winedale has grown into a year-round program reaching many different groups across the state and country.

    Teacher Confessions

    Summer Break Theatre presents this variety-style show – inspired by the likes of Austin Secrets, StoryCorp, and Austin Bat Cave – featuring true stories from the frontlines of teaching, a way for teachers' voices to be heard and supported through performance. Teacher Confessions collects anonymous stories and titles from teachers to bring to life by teacher/actors onstage.

    A Portrait of My Mother

    An artist remembers their mother, spinning a modern Mexican Cinderella tale as we follow the trials and tribulations of one woman's journey into motherhood – from her humble beginnings in the town of Laredo, Texas, to her journey to Chicago, and everything between. Written and performed by Carlo Lorenzo Garcia, directed by David R. Jarrott. Note: Now available for viewing on Vimeo.

    As You Like It

    This gender-fluid, music-infused take on Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy is directed by Lily Wolff for Shrewd Productions. With original music composed by T. Lynn Mikeska, and featuring a female-dominated cast of nine women and five men playing 24 roles, with most actors playing cross-gender.     This Pandemdem Edition: Another Great Depression show is an original performance devised by the student ensemble and directed by Jennifer Jennings. "We laugh at the absurdity of our pandemic predicaments, process our growth, and plant seeds for the future."
