Sound & Cinema: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World w/ a Giant Dog
Austin misfits A Giant Dog team up with Edgar Wright’s cast of outsiders in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World for garage rock and wicked chivalry under a Texas sunset. The Merge Records signees, whose second LP for the influential North Carolina indie drops Aug. 25 (titled Toy), delivers rowdy, sweaty riffs enveloping Sabrina Ellis’ and Andrew Cashen’s shaggy vox to create rock & roll for the misunderstood. The perfect preamble (7:30pm) to a film (9-ish) dedicated to the punks unable to find an outlet for pent-up anger and sexual frustration. – Isabella Castro-Cota
