Free Week: Knife in the Water, RF Shannon, Star Parks, Julia Lucille

Both Julia Lucille and RF Shannon’s 2017 releases marked some of the dreamiest LPs locally. Shannon’s Jaguar Palace stretches out the romanticism and sprawl of the Texan desert woven into a hazy combination of slow-burn storytelling and psychedelia, while Lucille’s airy Chthonic imbues trad folk structures with a gothic, electronic feel. Knife in the Water dismantles country by building a bruised, brainy sound on noir and pedal steel twang. – Libby Webster
