Do you have a young writer at home? Someone who loves to report on the stories around the world? Sign them up for Media Chica, Latinitas' free weekly journalism workshop. Participate in Viva México: Kids' Art Contest
A visual arts contest for kids to create original works of art to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Children ages 5-12 submit photos of their artwork, and images will be posted on the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center's Facebook and Instagram pages Sept. 12-18 and will be highlighted during the MACC's 16 de Septiembre event. Winners will be selected based on the number of likes they receive and will be sent a prize package of arts supplies and MACC swag. Winners announced Sept. 20.Through Sept. 11Online

AISD Meal Service
Through Sept. 4, any child under the age of 19 may receive one breakfast and one lunch meal daily from Austin ISD, Monday-Thursday, with Fridays as the weekend meal distribution day. No application or identification is needed; children can simply show up at any participating site to receive a healthy meal.
