  • Beatles Full Moon Concert in the Dark

    On the April Full Moon, come set intentions and indulge in the mesmerizing allure of live acoustic music performed by world-class musicians, surrounded by the warm glow of candlelight. Its a different kind of concert, that begins and ends in darkness, with music and a poem or two surrounding and soothing you. Audience members will be given the choice of bringing their own yoga mats and/or pillows to gaze at the shadows on the ceiling. A circle of chairs will be provided.

    Austin Humane Society's 16th Annual Puppy Bowl

    The bowl is back and better than ever! It's an epic day of delicious tailgate bites, puppy races, Super Bowl puppy predictions, pet adoptions, and the big game. Starting off at AHS with adorable adoptables, vendors, a Kid Zone and family fun, and the fifth annual Tailgate Competition, the fun continues at Yard Bar with the official Puppy Bowl game.

    Cécile McLorin Salvant

    Cécile McLorin Salvant is a composer, singer, and visual artist who has developed a passion for storytelling and finding the connections between vaudeville, blues, folk traditions from around the world, theater, jazz, and baroque music. Here she's joined by Sullivan Fortner (piano), Marvin Sewell (guitar), Alexa Tarantino (flute), Yasushi Nakamura (bass), and Keita Ogawa (percussion).

    Genuine Joe Coffeehouse relocation fundraiser w/ Thunder People, Half Dream, Dmitri, Redbud (solo), Middle Sattre

    As red-painted wood and a cozy, postered interior is torn down by developers, Genuine Joe Coffeehouse carries its warm, welcoming ambiance to a new location off Burnet Road. Coining themselves as “the Austin coffee shop before the Starbucks inspired knock-offs invaded,” the since-2005 North Austin staple celebrates its move with five bands and $10 suggested donation. Half Dream’s folksy tunes and Dmitri’s hip-swinging psych songs are among the eclectic sounds you can look forward to, plus facepaint, coffee, and food. Thunder People, Redbud (solo), and Middle Sattre round out the bill.

And this particular incarnation is a Valentine's Day tribute to the cinematic genius of David Lynch. Yes: Now it's dark.

    Zilker Botanical Garden is excited to present this play by Manuela Infante, directed by Khristián Méndez Aguirre and performed in Spanish and English. Equal parts ode to plant beauty, meditation of grief, virtuosic performances, plant philosophy, and Austin-grown weirdness, Estado Vegetal/Vegetative State tells the story of a neighborhood rocked by a disaster.

    The Filigree Theatre presents Rinne Groff's new play that's set in Coney Island in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy and follows a young woman as she crosses paths with an illusive and charismatic Dutch filmmaker who's obsessed with telling the story of the 1911 fire that burned Coney Island’s "Dreamland" to the ground.     This "wild woman dum dum show" by CB Goodman reimagines the Genesis story from a new perspective in order to free the beginning from shame, rejection, and labels. Inflatable friends. Ballet. Apocalyptic disco. In the Beginning uses comedy, satire, nontraditional storytelling , dance, puppets, and a pool party aesthetic to joyfully queer a repressive narrative.
