    It’s double the rainbows with Eastside Pop-up and The Little Gay Shop’s Pride Month hurrah. Shop from 20+ local queer artists and makers, view a pop-up museum curated by Thee Gay Agenda, and treat yourself to some tasty treats. Know before you go: Masks are encouraged at this outdoor event, but they are required to enter The Little Gay Shop and pop-up gallery.

    "Reweave: 2021" Community Weaving Event

    Finally, a live, IRL art event! In conjunction with Jade Walker's "Reweave: 2021," they'll have mini structural looms on the grounds at which anyone, even little ones, can engage with the community fabric healing process. Bring strips of cloth (say from old shirts), rope, old leashes, string — whatever you have to integrate your story. Family-friendly refreshments will be served, and other art activities such as face-painting and “slingshot-weaving” will be held. Bring masks and sunscreen.

    Acclaimed playwright Reina Hardy returns to the Vortex with her first National New Play Network rolling world premiere, bringing her magic and humor to this coming-of-age adventure for everyone who’s ever looked up at the stars and dreamed. "This remarkable play engages young adults and audiences of all ages, bringing science and imagination into the theatre." Directed by Marcus McQuirter and Rudy Ramirez, and starring Jeremy Rashad Brown, Oktavea LaToi, Dane Parker, Christina Blake, and Eva McQuade.

    Ao5 Gallery: The Art of Hugh Syme

    A Canadian Juno Award-winning graphic artist, Hugh Syme is best known for his artwork for rock and metal bands, most notably Rush albums: he created the famous Starman logo and played keyboard on some of those classic albums. Meet the man himself at tonight's reception.

    Austin's Glass Half Full Theatre presents its award-winning “story within a story” using puppetry, performed in Spanish and English. Featuring Madison Palomo as Belinda, who – when she confronts her stepmother and stepsisters – learns to embrace her love of poetry and stand up for herself. This captivating bilingual Cinderella story is recommended for ages five and older.

    Desert Door: Third Coast Tiki Weekend

    Desert Door Texas Sotol debuts the latest in its limited-edition Explorer series this weekend: A Jamaican rum cask Texas sotol named Third Coast, aged in a Tennessee whiskey barrel and boasting "the sweetness of rum, but with a caramel and toffee taste from the whiskey and sotol." Head on over to try this new tipple in a context redolent of Tiki bar delights, featuring three original cocktails created to highlight the new sotol's nuanced power. Note: Guests are encouraged to register right here, though entry is free and dogs, kids, and island attire are welcome.

    Goodstock's First Anniversary

    In celebration of Goodstock's first anniversary, the company's offering an educational experience that every wannabe barbecue guru will want to grok in fullness. Watch as pitmaster Mark Avalos of SLAB BBQ and chef Cris Vasquez (executive chef of The Texas Rangers) prepare and cook Goodstock staples such as briskets, beef ribs, pork ribs, tri tips, and more. A ticket gets you access to the event, food samples from the demos, nonalcoholic beverages, and a Goodstock swag bag stuffed with goodies.

    Northern-Southern: Baton

    This is a group show by relay, begun in July of 2020 as a method of socially distancing a community in the height of the pandemic: Artists took turns alone in the space, each adding to the exhibition. Now, as it nears its close, the exhibition resembles a community in which work converses and overlaps.
