  • Beatles Full Moon Concert in the Dark

    On the April Full Moon, come set intentions and indulge in the mesmerizing allure of live acoustic music performed by world-class musicians, surrounded by the warm glow of candlelight. Its a different kind of concert, that begins and ends in darkness, with music and a poem or two surrounding and soothing you. Audience members will be given the choice of bringing their own yoga mats and/or pillows to gaze at the shadows on the ceiling. A circle of chairs will be provided.

    Luck Reunion x Assembly x Remy Cointreau: Prime Cuts Family Meal

    In which Luck Reunion’s food-meets-music cook-a-long series returns for a special event complete with shopping lists and pre-ordered food and cocktail kits, with Austin-based chefs Kristen Kish and Alex Munoz (of Arlo Grey) and Philip Speer (of Assembly and Comedor) guiding you through the preparation of a traditional holiday family meal. This'll do your November right: Masa tamales with pork, pinto beans and rice, a couple of pitch-perfect cocktails, and – the music: Live performances by that psychedelic soul songstress Nicole Atkins from New Jersey and New Orleans' own Tank and the Bangas. Note: Donations raised through Prime Cuts: Family Meal will be made to the Luck Family Foundation, directly benefiting the Central Texas Food Bank.

      John Doe's Travis County World Tour

      "I'm moving to Austin for an adventure," John Doe told the Chronicle in 2017. Having become a fixture on the local scene, the punk pioneer serves up a three-show run of virtual sets from local institutions C-Boy's, Arlyn Studios, and the Cactus Cafe. The first indulges in "fan favorites," digging into his legendary work with L.A. icons X and cowpunks the Knitters, while the second works up new material from an upcoming album and likely X's Alphabetland, the quartet's April LP and first studio album in almost 30 years.

      A Christmas Affair 2020: Felicidad

      The Junior League of Austin's online event and marketplace offers a host of holiday-themed happenings and goods from small businesses around the country. Funds raised go to JLA's signature programs such as Coats for Kids, Food in Tummies, and Kids in Cool Shoes, along with more than 30 local nonprofits.

      The need is greater than ever, and all proceeds from this event will benefit Central Texas Food Bank and Meals on Wheels Central Texas. Visit the online store for Sam Hurt's special COVID T-shirt or big beautiful tote bag, the AEBP cookbook, Nancy Elder quilt raffle tickets, online concert tickets, and the online silent auction link. The silent auction includes everything from bowls for you and your dog to restaurant gift certificates. You can also make a tax-deductible donation. For every $25 donated, an empty bowl will be added to food boxes distributed by the Central Texas Food Bank or Meals on Wheels Central Texas.

      Austin Studio Tour: Pandemic Edition

      We're calling it the pandemic edition, but Big Medium and associates just call it the Austin Studio Tour. It's that progressive arts organization's response to these damned 'ronas, is what it is. They're taking the annual West Austin and East Austin Studio Tours and combining them, then presenting them mostly via the internets – wherein the expanded website includes artist profiles, images of artworks, virtual studio visits, demonstrations, artist talks, and a handy map of outdoor installations and public art. Hundreds of artists in this town, in full digital force. Note: The Tour begins with a launch party on Fri., Nov. 13; it's a preview of the website (and an opportunity to acquire artwork before it opens generally on Nov. 14).

      Bernadette Nason: A Christmas Carol

      In which the acclaimed actor and author reprises her popular one-woman adaptation of Dickens' holiday classic, performing more that 30 characters in 60 minutes and bringing some real delight to this unusual holiday season we've got going on.       Blue Genie Art Bazaar

      The beloved Austin holiday shopping experience returns for its 20th year with four shopping options to ensure safety in the time of COVID-19. For in-store shopping, reserve free tickets online for a "no wait" entry. Walk-ins are also welcome, but guests may have to wait outside if it's at capacity. Online shoppers can either pick up items in-store or have them shipped anywhere in the U.S. Personal shoppers and virtual shopping will also be available through the BGAB website. BGAB is a family-friendly experience where you can find one-of-a-kind, handcrafted jewelry, artwork, home goods, and gifts for everyone on your shopping list.

      Jennifer Sherburn: Elsewhere

      Jennifer Sherburn, the award-winning director of modern dance series 11:11, presents a voyeuristic dance experience, a self-guided tour of living installations that "transmute the concepts of stage, audience, and performance to acknowledge the barriers keeping us apart — while permitting a glimpse at what may be happening inside their confines." This featured part of the Austin Studio Tour features dancers Jairus Carr, Ciceley Fullylove, Lisa Anne Kobdish, Hailley Lauren, Taryn Lavery, Alex Miller, Clay Moore, Amy Myers, Sarah Annie Navarrete, and Marcie Bruscato Poss, in compelling kinesis all around the Rogge House Ranch.       Northern-Southern: Baton

      This is a group show by relay, begun in July of 2020 as a method of socially distancing a community in the height of the pandemic: Artists took turns alone in the space, each adding to the exhibition. Now, as it nears its close, the exhibition resembles a community in which work converses and overlaps.       The Importance of Being Earnest

      Austin Shakespeare presents Oscar Wilde's classic comedy via Zoom. "From the first moments of the play to the final revelation, Wilde's characters make me smile," says director Ann Ciccolella. "Earnest is his masterpiece of comic situations, and having Fran Dorn return to Austin Shakespeare as Lady Bracknell brings a whole level of joy to our experience."
