      Northern-Southern: Baton

      This is a group show by relay, begun in July of 2020 as a method of socially distancing a community in the height of the pandemic: Artists took turns alone in the space, each adding to the exhibition. Now, as it nears its close, the exhibition resembles a community in which work converses and overlaps.       Bullock Texas State History Museum: This Light of Ours

      This show features images by activist photographers of the Civil Rights Movement, telling a visual story of the struggle against segregation, race-based disenfranchisement, and Jim Crow laws in the 1960s. These photos capture the day-to-day struggles of everyday citizens and their resolve in the face of violence and institutionalized discrimination – with more than a dozen additional images representing activism and protest in Austin's own history.

      CASA of Travis County speaks up for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering the community to volunteer as advocates for them in the court system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety, a judge appoints a trained volunteer advocate to make independent and informed recommendations in the child’s best interest. Join the info session to learn more about becoming a volunteer advocate and how you can train online right now.       Oita, Japan, has been one of Austin's sister cities since 1990, and for this special 30th anniversary, the Austin-Oita Sister City Committee invites the greater Austin community to join in celebrating with 30 days of Facebook programming.       Austin’s local climbing gym and fitness center is now offering online classes including training for climbing, yoga, HIIT, and circuit training to keep Austinites mentally and physically healthy.       Don't Mess With Texas Art Contest

      The Don't Mess With Texas® Art Contest is officially open! Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation invite Texas students in kindergarten through 12th grade to submit their best litter prevention-inspired artwork to be considered for the Don’t Mess With Texas calendar, with the top 14 designs featured. Each winner will also receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 tablet, a Buc-ee's gift basket, their artwork framed and returned, and the opportunity to share the work on websites and social media. Teachers representing student winners will receive a $100 H-E-B/Central Market gift card. Submissions must be postmarked by April 24.
