Brazil Week: Black Orpheus

Winner of the Best Foreign Film Oscar, Black Orpheus is a modern reworking of the ancient myth set during Rio's Carnival. Dr. Jason Borge of UT will introduce the film. Afterward, members of Acadêmicos da Ópera, the Austin Samba School, will give a performance. Also in attendance will be Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro, a longtime fixture on the Rio Carnaval scene and a musician/extra in the film.
