My Little Chickadee

1940, NR, 83 min. Directed by Edward Cline. Starring W.C. Fields, Mae West, Margaret Hamilton, Joseph Calleia.

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Thu., June 22, 2000

West and Fields collaborated on this screenplay that spoofs Westerns. It’s a good comedy, although a bit tepid, whether due to censorial caution or the awkward merger of the two stars’ egos. Still, the sight of Fields in bed with a goat on his wedding night is priceless.
