Gone With the Wind
1939, G, 238 min. Directed by Victor Fleming. Starring Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Leslie Howard, Olivia De Havilland, Hattie McDaniel, Thomas Mitchell.
REVIEWED Thu., Sept. 2, 1999
Epic depicts love and Reconstruction in Civil War-era South in a film that ages more poorly with every passing year. In addition to Leigh's Academy win, McDaniel became the first African-American to win an Oscar, but was forced to sit at a segregated table at the awards ceremony.
