    Teach On! Virtual Fair

    Austin Community College presents this virtual fair about teaching and learning online. If you're a parent trying to support an online learner, or you’re looking to connect with experienced online teachers and up your online game, Teach On! is here to help. And if you have online teaching tips or tricks to share, this is a great way to help your colleagues and the community. Head to the event page to complete a survey to share your needs, and if you have something to offer, sign up for a booth or submit instructional material.

    Volunteer With Refugee Services of Texas

    RSTX is seeking mentors for their Youth Mentoring Program, which is focused on meeting the unique needs of youth ages 15-24 as they adapt to life in a new country. Mentors are paired with a mentee for six months and meet for a minimum of eight hours per month to work on goals together. Mentors must be at least 18 years old, residing in or near Austin, and able to meet the time commitment. All applicants welcome, regardless of language or profession, but there is currently a specific need for male mentors that speak Pashto, Dari, or Kinyarwanda.

In partnership with the city of Austin, United Way for Greater Austin will accept applications and provide consultation and case management services to grant applicants.     COVID-19 Vaccine Trial Research Participants Needed

    This month, medical research firm Benchmark Research will launch clinical trials to test vaccines aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 in Austin. Participants must be 18 or older, and front-line workers, people likely to be exposed to the virus, and those over 65 or at high risk with chronic health conditions are especially needed. All participants will receive financial compensation. Call or inquire via the website for more information.

    Pease Park Conservancy is accepting donations for their new Ribbon Wall. Through Dec. 31, for contributions of $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 (which can also be made monthly at $84, $208, or $467 per month), the first 300 people to sign on can have their name etched on the Ribbon Wall that will wind throughout the lower seven acres of Pease Park known as Kingsbury Commons.     Omni Online: Sound for Livestreaming

    Livestream sound engineering has become a valuable skill during the pandemic. In this workshop, local pro audio engineer Willa Snow will teach the nuances of creating a mix and then translating it to a livestreamed platform. You'll gain such tools as how to set up a platform for streaming, how to monitor a broadcasted mix, what considerations to take when mic'ing a live band for broadcast, and tips for communicating with the artist during the stream.

    In response to the substantial economic and social impact of the ongoing pandemic, a group of Texas folk and traditional arts organizations have come together to help offset the immediate and ongoing needs of the community. This fund will support artists from marginalized and at-risk communities that may not be in line for assistance by other Covid-19 relief funds. You can donate to the fund or apply online if you qualify for a grant.

    The Escape Game Remote Adventures

    Play the Escape Game’s newest game, "Ruins: Forbidden Treasure," from anywhere in the world using Zoom. Control an avatar wearing a live feed camera, search 360° images of the room, and use items in your online dashboard to progress through the game.
