APH Vaccine Updates
Austin Public Health recently announced a shift in focus with its COVID-19 vaccination efforts. Clinics at Old Sims Elementary and Pfluger Hall remain open with their existing schedules, but Delco and Southeast Library locations have closed. APH teams will now focus on the Mobile Vaccination Program, which offers vaccines at hard-to-reach areas. Businesses, churches, and other community groups can request MVP services through an online form.Ongoing -

Desperately Seeking Lifeguards
Maybe not desperately yet, but last year's shortage of lifeguards led to some limited hours and pool closures. To ensure summer fun for everyone, the city's Aquatic Division is hiring hundreds of lifeguards for its many pools, with positions starting at $15/hour and with ongoing training opportunities, including over spring break. Lifeguards must be 15 or older, and the city points out it can be a great start for a career in safety and public service. The city is seeking community feedback on its plans for the Palm District, a dynamic area on the eastern edge of Downtown with important cultural history for the Mexican American community.
