    La Traviata

Verdi’s tragic heroine takes center stage in one of the most frequently performed operas of all time, as Violetta Valery (Soprano Marina Costa-Jackson), a courtesan who knows she will soon die, falls in love with the handsome Alfredo, but – *sigh* – their happiness cannot last. Austin Opera will make sure your own night-at-the-opera's happiness will last, though; in memory, at least, ever green.
    Thu., May 3, 7:30pm; Sun., May 6, 2:30pm. $39 and up.
