Richard Linklater's Before Trilogy spans the near entirety of his career and effortlessly describes one the auteur's key strengths: dialogue. As in real life, some of the junk that comes out of our mouths masks other motives – and Linklater knows this too well. The filmmaker gave Austin's particular patois a national platform, and to that we say: "Now fry like bacon, you little freshman piggies!"
