The growth of the Austin studio scene has created a number of world-class contenders for this title, but sister studios Arlyn (at the Terrace) and Pedernales (west of town near Pace Bend) nonetheless lead the pack. Arlyn has attracted such international stars as Robert Plant, INXS, and Tom Jones to its facility in recent months, and as any local who's worked there can tell you, there's a warmth to the room (aided by the savvy of its engineering staff) that translates onto tape. Pedernales, after its recent upgrade, can rival many big city studios in technical terms, and offers live-in convenience in a lovely locale. And where else can you lay down some tracks and then, if you're lucky, play a round of golf with Willie to unwind?
