Austin Classical Guitar gets into summer reading in a big way with three concerts featuring music inspired by and blended with poetry and fiction from prominent writers such as James Agee, Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar, and James Joyce. The series – conceived by guest artistic director Tom Echols, sponsored by Kirkus Reviews, and produced in partnership with BookPeople and Austin Public Library Friends Foundation, launched on June 25 with KUTX on-air host John Aielli, soprano Estelí Gomez, guitarists Alejandro Montiel and Isaac Bustos, bassist DaXun Zhang, poet Tyler Gobble, and line upon line percussion, which premiered Joseph V. Williams II's musical setting of five poems by Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa. The remaining concerts will be held at the Blanton Museum's auditorium, 200 E. MLK.
