D Berman Gallery

Relocation, relocation, relocation

By Robert Faires, December 24, 2010, Arts

Have you ever spent 10 years in one place and decided it was time for a move? Well, then you can empathize with David Berman, who has decided that a decade is long enough to commute to Austin from Wimberley and so will be moving his successful and award-winning D Berman Gallery from its longtime home on Guadalupe and 17th Street to the Central Texas town that Berman and his wife Ellen call home. The announcement promises the new location will offer the same high-quality contemporary art and service, just 30 miles to the west. Local fans may still enjoy two shows before the gallery pulls up stakes: a group show celebrating D Berman's 10th anniversary, including work by pretty much every artist who's shown there since 2000, including Ellen Berman, Malcolm Bucknall, Faith Gay, Jimmy Jalapeeno, George Krause, Catherine Lee, Lauren Levy, Marjorie Moore, Naomi Schlinke, and Steve Wiman; and a two-person show of new work by Beverly Penn and Sydney Yeager. The group exhibition is up through Jan. 22. The Penn/Yeager show runs from Jan. 28 to Feb. 26. D Berman Gallery is at 1701 Guadalupe (for the next couple of months, that is).
