Austin Arts Hall of Fame

Class of 2006

The Austin Critics Table has named the fifth group of individuals to be inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame. As with the previous honorees, these seven Austinites have made significant contributions to the community over many years: some as artists, some as educators, some as patrons, some as administrators, some as a combination of these, but all as friends of and advocates for the arts. The 2006 class of inductees includes:

Ada Anderson, patron, educator, arts advocate (Austin Lyric Opera, Leadership Enrichment Arts Program, Laguna Gloria Art Museum/Austin Museum of Art, Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Long Center for the Performing Arts)

Robert DeSimone, director, educator, administrator (UT Opera Theatre)

Jessie Otto Hite, curator, administrator (Huntington Gallery/Blanton Museum of Art)

Rodolfo Méndez, teacher, choreographer, company founder (Ballet East Dance Theatre)

Charles Moore, architect (UT School of Architecture, Charles W. Moore Architect, Moore/Andersson Architects)

David Nancarrow, lighting designer, actor, teacher (UT Department of Theatre & Dance, Austin Lyric Opera, State Theatre Company)

Ken Webster, actor, director, company founder (Project InterAct, Performing Players of Austin, Subterranean Theatre Company, Hyde Park Theatre)

The new Hall of Famers will be formally – or, to be honest, informally – recognized at the 2005-06 Austin Critics Table Awards ceremony, to be held on Monday, June 5, 7pm, at the Cap City Comedy Club, 8120 Research.
