Shostakovich 100 Schedule

One opera, two piano concertos, a handful of symphonies, a dozen string quartets, and a score of songs – Shostakovich 100 will be serving all this up over the next 12 months, covering every aspect of the composer's varied output at every stage of his career, from his first composition at age 13 to his last work when he was 69. Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk

Scherzo, Op.1 and Violin Concerto

Prelude and Fugue No.15

Austin Chamber Music Festival
The Austin Chamber Music Center's three-week festival features several works by Shostakovich, including Symphony No. 15 (1971), arranged for piano trio and percussion by Viktor Derevianko, performed by the Ananda Trio with Kevin Hathway (gala opening at the Driskill Hotel); String Quartet No. 3 (1943), performed by Cuarteto Latinoamericano (Congregation Agudas Achim); and Symphony No. 10 (1953), in an original arrangement for one piano, four hands, performed by Duo Turgeon (St. Stephen's School). 454-0026 or www.austinchambermusic.org
