The UT Performing Arts Center is luring students into the voting booth with free tickets, and three local stage hits add extra performances
If you're a UT student, the UT Performing Arts Center wants you to vote on Nov. 2 so much that it's trying to coax you into the voting booth with free tickets. The PAC not to be confused with a political action committee has hooked up with UT's student government to offer one free ticket for one of its 2004-2005 shows to each Longhorn who shows proof of voter registration, UT student ID, and a "Ticket for Voting" coupon from The Daily Texan. Get 'em while they last. For more information, call 471-3166.
Three shows are doing so well with audiences that they're adding performances. Take note:
Austin Playhouse's production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof adds a performance on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2pm. The show can't extend beyond its Halloween closing, so this could be your last chance to catch the Cat. For more information, call 476-0084 or visit www.austinplayhouse.com.
The Vortex Repertory Company is giving you a little more time to party with Antonin Artaud by holding over Wake for the Dark Poet its tribute to the French theorist and artist using marionettes, masks, and shadow puppets for three performances: Nov. 4-6, Thursday-Saturday, 8pm. For more information, call 478-LAVA or visit www.vortexrep.org.
