New Home For ATY

From its inception two years ago, Austin Theatre for Youth has been on the lookout for a place which could house its administrative, box office, rehearsal, and performance needs under one roof. Well, now the folks at ATY have found their hearts' desire, and, as Dorothy Gale could have told them, it was in their backyard all along. The new home for the company is The Auditorium on Waller Creek, at the Sri Atmananda Memorial School, 41st and Red River. What gives the locale its Wizard of Oz resonance is that ATY produced one of its first shows, Nightingale, in the Auditorium in the spring of 1996. ATY will present two of its 1997-98 season shows at the new space and the remaining three shows at McCallum Fine Arts Academy. The ATY mailing address and phone number remain the same. Worthy Causes

Artists' Legal & Accounting Assistance of Austin presents "Absolutely Fabulous," a benefit concert with performances by Ta Mère and Mr. Fabulous on Tuesday, August 5, 5:30-8:30pm, at Top of the Marc, 618 West Sixth. Enjoy music, a free buffet, cash bar, and support this organization that provides free legal and accounting aid to the area's artists. Tickets are $10. Call 476-4458.
