For masochists only: The FIFA presidential election is this Friday, where a successor to Sepp Blatter will be chosen. Fox Sports will televise the proceedings live, starting at 5am.

The U.S. Women cemented their spot in this summer's Brazil Olympics last week, finishing the qualifying tournament without allowing a goal in five games, capped by a 2-0 win over arch-rival Canada on Sunday.

Tuesday's back-and-forth 2-2 draw between Bayern Munich and Juventus was the highlight of the first leg of the European Champions League Round of 16 this week; two late goals by Lionel Messi gave Barcelona a 2-0 win at Arsenal in the other high-profile matchup. The return legs are March 8-9, and 15-16... Lots of Europa League action today, Thursday, with 15 games finishing the first knockout round... This week the focus is back to league play, highlighted in England by Manchester United hosting Arsenal, Sunday at 8am on NBCSN.

The CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal first leg games are ongoing as we go to press: four U.S. teams from MLS facing off against four Mexican clubs from Liga MX. The return legs are Tue.-Wed., March 1-2: Querétaro at DC Unit­ed (7pm) and LA Galaxy at Santos Laguna (9pm) on Tuesday; and Seattle Sounders at América (7pm) and Tigres at Real Salt Lake (9pm) on Wednesday, all showing live on Fox Sports 1 & 2.

In training: The UT Longhorn women kick off their spring training season with an exhibition game as we go to press Wednes­day; upcoming are at least one more exhibition, and also an 8-on-8 small-sided tournament... And San Antonio FC, the Spurs-owned USL expansion team, has opened their training camp, and continues to announce new signings, as they prepare for their inaugural season opener April 3 in Seattle.
