The Austin Aztex won the PDL championship back in August, but the awards keep rolling in. The Aztex were named PDL Organization of the Year Friday at the annual United Soccer Leagues Hall of Fame & Awards Dinner – along with Orlando City (USL PRO), and the Dayton Dutch Lions (W-League) – and were also one of three teams recognized with the league Fair Play Award. That adds to their previous sweep of PDL Coach of the Year (Paul Dalglish), league MVP (Kris Tyrpak), and playoff MVP (Sito Seoane) – a remarkable record in a highly competitive 64-team league... Tyrpak, a Dripping Springs native who just finished his college career, has been selected to participate at the 2014 MLS Player Combine, Jan. 10-14 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.... Aztex owner David Markley posted his year-end open letter Tuesday, confirming that a move up to the pro level is still in the works: "While it is still premature to announce specific plans or timing, I can assure you that the off-season has been consumed by financial modeling and meetings with potential investors and business partners which will help us take this next step. There was a temptation to join the pro ranks for the 2014 season, but we remain committed to having the right team, with the right partners, at the right time." Hosts Raja Casablanca, sitting mid-table in the Moroccan league, stunned South American champion Atletico Mineiro of Brazil in a Club World Cup semifinal Wednesday; they'll meet European champion Bayern Munich in the CWC final Saturday in Marrakech (1:30pm, Fox Sports 2).
