By Nick Barbaro, Fri., Feb. 10, 2012
Kylie Doniak, the UT Longhorns' top scorer each of the past three years, remains in a medically-induced coma at Brackenridge Hospital, after being victim of a hit-and-run in Downtown Austin last Friday night; her family reported that she opened her eyes and blinked on Tuesday. Nicholas Colunga, 22, was arrested and charged with intoxication assault and two counts of failure to stop and render aid, after being chased down by a motorcycle-riding witness to the crime.
With U.S. TV ratings up for all types of soccer games, ESPN2's English Premier League schedule continues this Saturday, 6:30am, with Manchester United hosting Liverpool.
The riots that killed 74 Egyptians at a soccer game last week continue to reverberate: FIFA announced a $250,000 donation to the families of the victims, even as beleaguered Egyptian leaders called out troops into the streets to try to stem growing unrest. Ultras fans of El-Ahly, Zamalek, and other teams are once again taking a leadership role in the political protests, as they did in the Tahrir Square uprising a year ago, and in actions since then.
