UT struggles to string wins together, and more

The UT Longhorns have played some strong games this year, but they've seemed unable to put together positive results back-to-back. (We'll see that tested, come tournament time.) Case in point: Last week's road trip, when the Horns put the first blemish on nationally second-ranked Oklahoma State's record with a 1-1 draw Friday, but then lost in overtime to Texas Tech, 3-2, despite coming from behind to tie twice. This week Seattle University is in town (Sunday, Oct. 23, 1pm, at Mike Myers Stadium), then the Horns will close their regular season hosting archrival Texas A&M, Friday, Oct. 28, 6pm.

The St. Edward's women face Dallas Baptist in their last home game of the year this Saturday, with the Heartland Conference lead on the line. Though the Hilltoppers improved to 11-1-1 on the year, they still haven't broken back into the national Top 25, after being as high as No. 2 early on. Saturday, Oct. 22, 1pm, on the St. Ed's campus on South Congress. The St. Ed's men host Newman, Friday, Oct. 21, 4pm.

It was a great week for English teams in the European Champions League, as all four won (Chelsea, Arsenal, both Man-chesters), and a tough one for the French, all three losers. The group stage is now halfway over; the next games are Nov. 1-2.
