Express coach Bobby Jones, 61, passed the 1,500-win milestone last Saturday in Sacramento, Calif. What makes this even more remarkable is that he has accomplished this all at the minor-league level with the same franchise – the Texas Rangers. Round Rock will honor Jones' achievement this Saturday and Sunday: All kids 12 and younger will get a free Express lunch box. As far as Jones' team is concerned, as we go to press, the Express are 73-51 with a solid 10-game lead over second-place Albuquerque in the Pacific Coast League's American South division as they continue their "Countdown to Clinch" a playoff spot. Astros fans, things don't so look bright for your AAA affiliate, the Oklahoma City RedHawks, as they comfortably reside in the American South's cellar, a full 17 games back of Round Rock. It's gonna be a long and lean couple of years for the Astros franchise. Vs. New Orleans: Sat., Aug. 20, 7:05pm; Sun., Aug. 21, 6:05pm; Mon.-Tue., Aug. 22-23, 7:05pm. Dell Diamond, 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, 512/255-2255. $6-30. www.roundrockexpress.com.
