Veggie hot dog eating contest

What better way to celebrate our nation's independence than by attending a locally sponsored vegetarian hot dog eating competition? And don't fret, it's not too late to sign up for this fourth-annual affair, although it'll be just as much fun, if not more, to participate as a spectator/cheerleader. This event is the brainchild of the enterprising folks at iLoveMikeLitt, who dabble in all sorts of off-the-wall productions celebrating the absurdity and beauty of our time spent sharing space on this huge third stone from the sun. There's also a veggie hot dog video contest being held in conjunction with the face-stuffing extravaganza. The winning filmmakers will receive a $100 gift card from the Alamo Drafthouse and 2010 Austin Film Festival passes. See the website to view the video entries and to learn more about how you can get involved in this and future events. Sun., July 4, 1-4pm, competition at 2pm. Tiniest Bar in Texas, 817 W. Fifth, 391-6222. www.ilovemikelitt.com.
