Charting the Monsters of Fantastic Fest

Here there be movies

Of all the film festivals in town, no one brings the beasts quite like Fantastic Fest. Whether it's an alcoholic werewolf cop, demonic possession, or a face-off between two iconic Japanese ghosts, the next week is jam-packed with brutes and fiends, human or otherwise. We've marked some points of interest on the map below, but these are merely a handful of celluloid treasures in the midst of veritable pirate's booty of deranged awesomeness. Intrepid cinema explorers may have already mapped their course, but for the neophyte adventurer: Start here.

Fantastic Fest 2016

Fantastic Fest runs Thu., Sept. 22 through Thu., Sept. 29, at the Alamo South Lamar. While the badges may be sold out, do not be dissuaded on attending films (especially during the fest's second half, where there are numerous empty seats). Single tickets run $10 and are available 10 minutes before the screening at the box office.
