Big 'EW' for the Alamo

Where does the theatre rank in 'EW's best of the best?

Big 'EW' for the Alamo

This week's Entertainment Weekly names the Alamo Drafthouse as the No. 1 theatre in the nation "doing it right" in the face of declining box-office numbers and audience dissatisfaction. Leading a full-page roundup that includes Portland's Kennedy School, Baltimore's Senator, and the Film Forum in NYC is "one of America's most fantastically unique moviegoing experiences." Talk about a bon voyage: A caravan led by founders Tim and Karrie League sets off this month on a massive Rolling Roadshow tour that will include a screening of Once Upon a Time in the West in Monument Valley, Ariz., and The Goonies in Astoria, Ore. Look for our report from Last Picture Show in Archer City in the Aug. 26 issue.
