ADAPT Refuses to Hold Capital Metro Responsible

RECEIVED Sat., July 12, 2014

Dear Editor,
ADAPT of Texas itself is a part of Austin’s caste system [“Where the Sidewalks End,” News, July 11]. David Wittie and Jennifer McPhail never protested removal of bus stops, reduction in bus frequencies, or the recent increase of fares – all of which are disproportionately impacting people with disabilities. We cannot just choose to ride in private cars if we do not like something which the transit agency votes on or implements. Our own organizations tellingly refuse to hold Capital Metro and the city accountable. We are the ones testifying at Capital Metro board meetings. We have already figured out that mobility access requires far more than a folding ramp!
