Dumbfounded by 'Chronicle's Position

RECEIVED Tue., Oct. 23, 2012

Dear Editor,
I’m dumbfounded that you can decry auto congestion and traffic deaths, then endorse a bond package (Prop. 12) which will put more cars on the road, increasing both congestion and auto deaths [“Nov. 6 Elections: The 'Chronicle' Endorsements,” News, Oct. 19]. That’s like condemning arson while budgeting money to buy gasoline for arsonists. Continued borrowing for road building will not only delay adopting environmentally sustainable transport systems, but will leave us so indebted that by the time we come to our senses, we won’t be able afford environmentally friendly transport solutions.
