Kleon's message was to "stop trying to be completely original," stressing the value in being inspired by one's artistic heroes and trying to build on what they'd accomplished. He encouraged festivalgoers to keep "a swipe file" – what he called a collection of ideas and observations, even if it's just scraps of paper. His word of caution? "Always check your pockets for ideas before you do your laundry."
