Kleon's message was to "stop trying to be completely original," stressing the value in being inspired by one's artistic heroes and trying to build on what they'd accomplished. He encouraged festivalgoers to keep "a swipe file" – what he called a collection of ideas and observations, even if it's just scraps of paper. His word of caution? Last night’s Mind Over Music trivia fundraiser raised nearly $3,000 for Grounded In Music and laid witness to all the great goings-on that you’d usually associate with high stakes music trivia: second-guessing, high scoring, and befuddled contestants looking longingly from the back rows. Oh yeah, the show also featured an appearance from Geto Boys rapper Bushwick Bill, who stopped by to answer a few questions and throw up a quick freestyle.
